Our mission consists of supporting young residents of Saint-Laurent mainly aged from 16 to 35 in their steps towards social and professional integration, and doing so, totally free of charge . Our approach helps these young adults to develop their independence and confidence, as well as their full employment, school and business potential. Our services, documents and intervention tools are provided both in French and in English.

Brief history on the Carrefour

In July 2001 the creation of a board of trustees takes place in response to the community’s need to develop an economic, social and cultural project in Saint-Laurent, as well as to participate in developing the local workforce.

mission_10anniversaireCoordinated by the Chamber of Commerce of Saint-Laurent and supported by deputies – Messrs. Jacques P. Dupuis (Saint-Laurent) and Yves Bordeleau (L’Acadie) – with the collaboration of Saint-Laurent’s public and broader public community-based social organizations, an implementation request is sent to the Ministère de l’Emploi et de la Solidarité sociale du Québec, and, on March 18, 2002, Carrefour jeunesse emploi Saint-Laurent welcomes its first participants.

Thanks to public consultations, partners from the community, institutions, the government, the city, and private companies give five leads to Carrefour jeunesse emploi Saint-Laurent: immigrants, women of ethnocultural groups, possible dropouts, people without cheque, and Anglophones in Saint-Laurent.

Carrefour jeunesse emploi Saint-Laurent works in parallel with the third part of Quebec’s Company act, and is registered since February 23, 2001. Its board of trustees consists of nine trustees and ensures to preserve and protect the independence of local management, specific local needs, and access to various clienteles at risk and complementarity of services in place. The board of trustees also works towards ensuring to young people in the community, innovative services and projects adapted to the community’s reality, as well as relationships with local partners.
